Mental Health, Bioethics and Policy Lab
Tel Aviv University
The lab studies the meeting point of mental health, ethics, law and policy: what happens to the therapeutic relationship, to professional authority and to patients' rights when artificial intelligence enters the consulting room; how to regulate coercion and risk assessment in psychiatry in a way that respects the person; and how perceptions of health shape behavior. Our studies combine quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods with tools from philosophy, law and psychology, and many of them are carried out together with professionals from the field.
Three main research lines: responsible artificial intelligence in mental health and care; law, coercion and rights in mental health; health perception and health behaviors. The lab works in close collaboration with Tel Aviv University's Initiative for Responsible AI in Medicine, headed by Dr. Asman.
